DJ Kut Throat is a DJ/Scratch Turntablist in the Pacific Northwest area with close ties within the Portland Night Club and Hip Hop Scene dating back to the early 90’s.
His determination, devotion and passion for music has brought him to work on many avenues of the industry including working in night clubs, establishing weekly and monthly spots, performing with local artists, putting together remixes and mixed tapes, promotion and even co-ownership of a local record shop. His career has taken him throughout the Pacific Northwest playing in various clubs including Barracuda’s, Bar 71, FX, Lucky’s, The Thirsty Lion, Dixie and The Lotus and allowed him the privilege of opening for Digital Underground, Sir Mix A Lot, Mickey Avalon, Hieroglyphics, and Kool Keith. As an active force in the Portland Hip Hop community Kut Throat has been honored to share the spotlight and work with various talented artists and DJs including DJ Wicked, DJ Zone, DJ Wheels, DJ Kriz, Diction One, The Goondock Saints, Monster's Ink, The S1K Ones, Nafarious XO, Paulie Think, Kable Roc, BooSen, Stryk-9 and Beyond. Kuts has also performed at various festivals, community events and car shows including Fire In the Canyon, Hemp Fest, the Bend Roots Festival, Food Wars, Fight Church, and The Shute Park Low-rider Hop Car Show.
Kut Throat’s diverse DJ sets combined with his seamless turntable skills keep any party rocking no matter what genre and have rightfully established him as a main staple within the Northwest Music scene. He has become active with the Morpheus Youth Project, which is to create an accessible, safe and respectful environment that encourages positive growth and provides creative opportunities through the arts and humanities. The belief being that by investing in our youth through education and encouraging the development of self-awareness, we will provide viable tools and positive options for young people as they mature.
Currently DJ Kut Throat performs with Asylum Junkie, but has also performed with Bad Habitat, Research and Development, Watermelon Funk, TRIfection, and Monster's Ink. He's always looking for new opportunities and local spots to mix it up.
